About KO Wine Consultants

Envisaging a need for winemaking and consultancy services in the relatively new and flourishing wine industry in New Zealand, winemaker Matt Thomson formed Kiwi-Oeno Limited in 1997. Over the last 20 years the company has grown concomitantly with the industry, and it now asserts both a national and global standing as a premium wine production and viticultural consultancy. A slight evolution in the business in 2017 now sees the same four winemakers operating as a consultancy collective, KO Wine Consultants, supported by additional staff at KO “Hub” in central Blenheim.

It makes sense that the vibrant and largest of all New Zealand’s wine-growing areas, Marlborough, is the service base for the Kiwi-Oeno consultancy, though its dedicated team work throughout New Zealand and the world. Wine regions include Hawkes Bay, Gisborne and Central Otago, while internationally, KO works in Southern France, in Northern, Central and Southern Italy, northern and southern Spain, Hungary and Chile.

Together with the KO Wine Consultant’s support staff, the winemakers offer an extensive range of professional wine-related services which draw upon an extensive collective pool of (New and Old World) knowledge, accomplishment and experience..
